Gardening: video pleasures
This Blotanical blogger (Lost in the Landscapes) mentioned Greenfingers. You can catch a clip of lovely Helen Mirren in classic, British gardener clobber*. I though immediately of a PBS series lent me last year by a neighbor.
Here is the trailer:
Rosemary & Thyme is British -- natch -- starring Felicity Kendal and Pam Ferris as gardening detectives Rosemary Boxer and Laura Thyme. Delightful little bon mot, especially if you are too tired to hold a book. Visit the website, for details on episodes and ordering information by clicking into this "garden journal."

OOPS.
I meant to add this definition to 'clobber': British informal speak for a person's clothing and personal items. Probably needs double quotes since the refererence means informal wear....perhaps like togs.
Thanks to word-watcher ST in the comments string.

Thanks for the link! I haven't been a PBS junkie for a few years, and so I missed Rosemary & Thyme. I'll have to Netflix that one soon. I love their description: "Solving mysteries and raising petunias … how British can you get?"
My PBS station showed Rosemary and Thyme on Saturday nights for awhile, but no longer, it seems. I love Felicity Kendall. Never heard of Greenfingers, but the library has it. Sounds great. And Tess - I didn't watch the second part (I was out) - the first was so depressing, as you know she will come to grief. I read the book as a teen and I'm sure it propelled me forth to fight the unfairness of the world. Which unfortunately still exists.
Rosemary and Thyme sounds like fun! I love a good British cozy.
What's a "gardener clobber?"
