Series of saints
for a week or ten days or so. Let's begin with St. Dorothy, not often thought of as a patron of gardeners. Her feast day is February 6, and she is associated with Caesarea, Cappodocia, Turkey circa A.D. 303. Her patronage covers gardens, horticulture, brides, and florists. I know a retired florist in California, such a lively and kind person, so I associate the old saint with this dear living saint.
Recently, I bought several pewter saints medals from the Etsy shop of InTheCompanyofSaints. The link is to a Dorothy placque, suitable for outdoors. He crafts lovely items, in a expressionistic or artisanal style. These are not the faux, blonde saint figures we sometimes must make do with.
